Nadd Haas, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach and owner of Sugar & Neuro Spice Fitness

As a late-diagnosed autistic, a queer person, and someone who's chronically ill, I understand the challenges neurodivergent people face and the overlap of being neurodivergent, queer, and having a chronic illness.  With my background in cheer, dance, and martial arts, you’d think I would've been an elite athlete growing up, but my neurospicy brain struggled with the mind-muscle connection, causing constant injuries and frustration.  I even developed fibromyalgia thanks to the repeated trauma my body endured and the mental load it caused.  Growing up in the early 2000's during the peak of toxic diet culture and fat shaming, then eventually the age of ED Tumblr...let’s just say my relationship with my body and food was an intense rollercoaster.  Then came 2020, the year everything changed.  As the world spiraled with the Covid pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement coming to a head, I felt like I was stuck in a horror movie; scared, helpless and too weak to survive. But attending a BLM march changed everything; after a short and painful march that felt like a marathon, it hit me.  I had to do something.  I pushed myself to advocate for my own health and put together a great healthcare team to finally get the treatment I needed and deserved.  I locked in with my nutrition and fitness, got strong AF, shed about 70 pounds, and discovered a passion for fitness and nutrition.  Along the way, I learned what it truly means to love myself.  These days, I live my life with a sense of confidence I never could have imagined having.  Now, I'm in the phase of my life where all I want to do is help others also heal their relationship with food and their bodies and prove that fitness isn't exclusive to the able-bodied and to a certain cookie cutter type of person.
